Tui Na – Chinese Massage
Tui Na or Chinese Massage is a powerful, ancient massage that predates osteopathy. It is part of Chinese Medicine alongside acupuncture, herbal medicine, and qigong. Although relatively unknown in the West, Tui Na is one of the oldest treatments known to man and has been used and developed by billions of people in the East for thousands of years. In China it is practiced as a medical massage for therapeutic benefits. It accelerates the regeneration and healing of injuries, improves blood and lymph circulation, detoxifies the system, alleviates pain, relaxes tight muscles, strengthens immunity and improves health and well-being.
Techniques
Tui Na uses the same points as acupuncture to stimulate channels and meridians, unblock stagnant energy and promote balance. Amongst the sophisticated techniques performed are finger pressure, lifting, stretching, leverage of muscles and soft tissue to relieve pain and tension. Corrective joint manipulation techniques may also be employed to enhance movement and posture. Tui Na is quite different from Western massage and is undertaken through clothing.
Benefits
Tui Na is renowned for its effectiveness in treating musculo-skeletal conditions, improving flexibility, maintaining health, preventing illness, de-stressing & detoxifying the body, and preventing illness. Conditions Helped by Tui Na:
